EILAF INSIGHTS / PLANNING

Building in Lahore from overseas: plan a clearer process

A remote build needs clear responsibilities and records. Agree how decisions, inspections and payments will be handled before work starts.

01

Appoint your contacts

Name your company contact and any local representative. Define who can approve work, changes and payments, and how identity or authority will be verified.

02

Set the reporting rhythm

Agree fortnightly updates, dated photos, video walkthroughs and a written progress summary in your contract. Specify how questions and urgent issues will be escalated.

03

Use written approvals

Keep drawings, selections, variation costs and programme changes in one record. Ask for enough information to approve decisions without relying on a short video alone.

04

Arrange independent checks

Discuss inspection milestones and the role of an independent adviser. Confirm what evidence is required before each payment and how final handover documents will be delivered.

Keep your decisions together.

Bring your project brief, drawings and unanswered questions to the first scope discussion.
