Build a material palette
Bring flooring, wall colour, timber samples and metal finishes together in the same light. A consistent base with a few intentional contrasts often feels more resolved than many competing statements.
Design around real use
Consider moisture exposure, cleaning, wear and slip resistance where relevant. Ask suppliers for technical information and maintenance instructions before selecting a finish.
Coordinate the hidden details
Lighting positions, cabinet clearances, skirting, switches and service access all influence the finished result. Resolve them before installation.
Approve a sample
Use a mock-up or sample area for important finishes. Review colour, texture, joint alignment and workmanship before the full area proceeds.
Keep your decisions together.
Keep approved samples, finishes and any substitutions in a written selection record.
